Child Abuse Prevention Month
April is Child Abuse Prevention Month. It was established in 1983 after decades of efforts by children’s advocates who pushed to create and change laws to protect those most vulnerable in society. The purpose of the month is to raise national awareness about child abuse prevention and how individuals and communities can help prevent the abuse and neglect of children.
#GoBlueSEK Kick Off Event
Join the CAC on the first Saturday of April to kick off #GoBlueSEK. The meaning behind wearing blue comes from a grandmother, Bonnie Finney, from Virginia who lost her grandson to child abuse and neglect. In remembrance of her late grandson, she tied a blue ribbon to the antenna of her car. She vowed to never forget the battered, bruised bodies of her grandchildren. That one small ribbon spiraled into millions of people wearing blue to spread the word about preventing child abuse. Join the CAC in wearing blue each Friday in the month of April.

We're not fancy, and we don't expect you to be, either! Put on your best blue jeans and come on out to Mirza Shrine Center for beverages and dinner! While you're at it, bid on some great items and support the Children's Advocacy Center (who says you have to dress up to have fun and do good things?). C'mon out and bring friends!
