CAC Just Give

 
  • Chldren's Advocacy CenterTeach your child that he/she has the right to say "NO" to an adult if that adult is bothering them in any way.
  • Know everything you can about your children's activities and friends.
  • Monitor children's activities and participate with them. Do not allow childre to play alone in fields, on playgrounds, or in othr isolated areas.
  • Teach your children to never tell anyone over the phone or at the door that they are home alone.
  • Teach your children to say "NO" to touches on the parts of their body that are covered by their swimsuit.
  • If the abuser is a family member, never let him/her alone with your children. When the abuser is a teenager in your home, do not allow him/her to be alone with younger children.
  • Leave your children with someone you know and trust.
  • Listen when children tell you they do not want to be with a particular person.
  • Pay attention when someone shows an unusual interest in your child by giving them gifts or money.
  • Be sensitive to changes in your child's behavior or attitudes.
  • Teach your children to refuse anything from strangers, including money, gifts, or rides.
  • Develop open communication between you and your children.
  • BE A GOOD LISTENER!
