1995 - Ethnographic study in Kansas determined that Cherokee and Crawford counties were numbers one and two in reports per capita of child sexual abuse.
1997 - Crawford County Sexual Abuse Task Force formed.
1998 - Members of the Sexual Abuse Task Force formed the CAC Advisory Board of Directors under the umbrella of Community Mental Health of Crawford County.
1999 - The Children's Advocacy Center, Inc. opened its doors.
Safety Awareness Program begins in Pittsburg elementary schools.
The CAC hired its first Director.
2000 - A Community Board of Directors was formed.
A CAC Child Advocate was hired.
2001 - The CAC Board of Directors obtained 501(c)(3) status.
2002 - The Board of Directors launched a capital campaign to purchase a facility for the Children's Advocacy Center, Inc.
The Children's Advocacy Center, Inc. opened its new center in July.
